on Jeremiah 40:11-12
Jews who fled to “Moab, Ammon, Edom, and all the other lands” return to Gedaliah at Mizpah when they hear a remnant has been left. They gather “an abundance of wine grapes and summer fruit.” The harvest is brief, since the next verses carry the threat that ends it.

The exiles come home from Moab, Ammon and Edom and find a full harvest waiting. The brief return answers on a small scale the promise of 32:15 that fields and vineyards would again be bought in the land. Matthew Henry sees a dark cloud already gathering.
