The tour moves from open provocation to hidden sin: a command to “dig through the wall,” and behind it “a doorway.” “Go in and see the wicked abominations they are committing here” makes the prophet an eyewitness, the pattern the chapter uses to certify its charges.

The Lord sends Ezekiel through the doorway to see the wicked abominations inside. John Gill explains the pairing: these practices were wicked in themselves and hateful to God. The prophet must see them with his own eyes.

Note, Those that would discover the mystery of iniquity in others, or in themselves, must accomplish a diligent search; for Satan has his wiles, and depths, and devices, which we should not be ignorant of, and the heart is deceitful above all things; in the examining of it therefore we are concerned to be very strict. It is a very melancholy one.
