Commentary

2 notes on this verse
And prepare yourselves,.... To do their work in this service of the sanctuary, the passover; that they be ready to do it, and diligent in it, and perform it according to the law of God: by the houses of your fathers, after your courses; such of them whose turn in course it was to officiate: according to the writing of David king of Israel, and according to the writing of Solomon his son; who had given in writing directions in what manner their courses should be observed, see 1Ch 23:1.

This site's exposition

according to the writing of David king of Israel

on 2 Chronicles 35:4-6

The Levites prepare by courses, according to the writing of David king of Israel and the writing of Solomon his son, the same courses David organized in 1 Chr 23-26 and the same kind of claim 28:19 makes for the temple's plans, that David had them in writing by the LORD's hand upon him. Passover runs here as an executed plan rather than an improvised gathering, Levites assigned by family to serve the people the text calls their brethren, and everyone doing what the hand of Moses commanded. Chronicles treats its own earlier chapters as the working manual for this single day.
