on 2 Chronicles 25:3-4
Amaziah executes his father’s murderers but spares their sons. Chronicles keeps the citation Kings already carries at 2 Kings 14:5-6: “Fathers must not be put to death for their children”. The king who keeps that law here is the king who bows before the gods of Seir ten verses later.

what is written in the Law
The rule Amaziah keeps is Deuteronomy 24:16, and Ezekiel 18:20 later preaches it to the exiles. Athaliah had destroyed the royal family of Judah at 22:10, children and all. Amaziah spares the sons of his father's killers.
