on 1 Chronicles 16:32-34
These verses come from Ps 96:11-13 almost word for word. Verse 34 then gives the refrain “Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good; His loving devotion endures forever”. The refrain returns at 2 Chr 5:13, 7:3 and 20:21 and runs through all of Ps 136.

This line of thanks becomes the chapter's refrain. Verse 41 hands it to Heman and Jeduthun as the words of their thanks. Jamieson, Fausset and Brown note that worship in David's time ran at two places, and the refrain went to both.
