The opening four verses parallel Ps 105:1-4. They call Israel to “Seek out the LORD and His strength”, and to “seek His face always”. The verb seek becomes the measure the Chronicler applies to every later king, and 1 Chr 22:19, 2 Chr 15:12-13 and 20:3-4 return to it.

The verb seek comes twice in this verse. It calls Israel to seek the LORD's strength and to seek His face always. Jamieson, Fausset and Brown note on verse 40 that worship ran daily at two places, the ark in Jerusalem and the altar at Gibeon.
