And the flesh and the hide he burnt with fire without the camp. With common fire, for the fire from the Lord came only upon the altar, which perhaps may be the reason of this expression being used when anything was burnt without the camp, and not on the altar, see Exo 29:14. Jarchi observes, that we do not find a sin offering burnt without the camp but this; which is a great mistake; see Lev 4:11.

The blood goes on the horns of the altar in the court, as Moses did at Leviticus 8:15. The rule of 4:5-7 takes an anointed priest's blood in before the veil, but Aaron has not yet acted inside the holy place.

John Gill says this burning outside the camp used common fire, since the fire from the LORD came only upon the altar. At Leviticus 4:11 the bull of the anointed priest's sin offering is carried out in the same way.
