Counterpoint: Translators do not agree on how to divide the string of names and titles in Jeremiah 39:3 â€” the same Hebrew has been read as anywhere from three to six officials, and "Samgar-nebo" is often taken as a garbled form of the Babylonian court title simmagir rather than a name. Nergal-sharezer's match with the officer on Nebuchadnezzar's prism (and with the later king Neriglissar) depends on which division you accept.
