on Jeremiah 14:13-16
Jeremiah objects that the prophets promise “lasting peace in this place”, and the LORD answers, “The prophets are prophesying lies in My name”. The deceivers die, and the deceived are thrown into the streets with “no one to bury them”. The unburied dead are the covenant curse at its worst.

The last clause names the cause of the ruin. Barnes reads it as their own wickedness brought home to them. Adam Clarke says the people fall for choosing the lying words over the truth the LORD gave through Jeremiah.
