Wilt thou not tell us what these things are to us

on Ezekiel 24:19-24

The answer names the coming loss in the same terms as the prophet's own. Gill reads the parallel as deliberately built, the temple to Jerusalem what the wife was to Ezekiel. JFB notes the command laid on the people, ye shall not mourn nor weep, turns Ezekiel's silence into theirs.

Ezekiel answers the people with the word of the LORD that came to him. Spurgeon observed that the people knew at once that his strange conduct had a meaning for them. The answer ties the prophet's loss to theirs.
