Where 1 Kings 6:1 names only the month, verse 2 adds the exact day. Gold from Parvaim and “precious stones for beauty” at verse 6 have no parallel in Kings. The “main room” is the chamber Kings calls the house, and Chronicles gives the plan its own vocabulary.

Gold covered the beams, thresholds, walls and doors. Barnes describes the stone walls beneath as lined first with cypress planks, so the gold lay over wood. The cherubim carved on these walls anticipate the two great figures of verse 10.
