on 2 Chronicles 21:4-5
Once he holds the throne, Jehoram “strengthened himself by putting to the sword all his brothers along with some of the princes of Israel”. Chronicles states outright what 2 Kings 8 leaves unsaid. He reigns eight years from age thirty-two, the figures the chapter repeats at its close.

The regnal figures match 2 Kings 8:17, and Gill refers the reader to that parallel for the whole passage through verse 10. Jehoram came to the throne at thirty-two and died at forty, as verse 20 repeats, so David's line lost a king in middle life.
