So large a collection of cattle offered for sacrifice on one occasion proves both the large flocks of the Israelites and the abundance of pastures which were then, and still are, found in the valleys that lie between the Sinaitic Mountains.

Having written each of the twelve out in full, the chapter adds the totals anyway. Twelve chargers, twelve bowls, twelve golden spoons, and the silver weighed at two thousand four hundred shekels after the shekel of the sanctuary. The sums show that nothing in the twelve recitals was rounded or assumed.
