on Jeremiah 37:1-5

Verse 2 gives the verdict first: he and his people “refused to obey the words that the LORD had spoken through Jeremiah the prophet.” Yet the king sends to Jeremiah, “Please pray to the LORD our God for us!” Jeremiah is still free, and Pharaoh’s advance has lifted the siege.
