The voice of God's prophets was not heard, was not heeded, among them, and therefore no longer shall the voice of the bridegroom and of the bride, of the songs that used to grace the nuptials, be heard among them. Causes of Divine Judgments.

on Jeremiah 16:5-9

Jeremiah may not enter “a house where there is a funeral meal”, because the LORD has removed “My peace, My loving devotion, and My compassion”. The dead will be past counting. Verse 9 names the sounds of a wedding, “the voices of the bride and bridegroom”, to announce their silence.

The loss will come in their own lifetime. Matthew Henry notes that the people would not heed the prophets, so the voices of bride and bridegroom will be heard no more. Gill reads the title LORD of Hosts as the power to do what he threatens.

And when you tell this people all these words, and they say to you, 'Why has the Lord pronounced all this great evil against us? What is our iniquity? What is the sin that we have committed against the Lord our God?'
