For seven days from now

Seven days stand between the announcement and the rain; forty days and forty nights appears here first. The span comes back as the measure of a testing, Moses on the mountain at Exodus 24:18 and Jesus in the wilderness at Matthew 4:2. Noah did all the LORD had commanded him.

This is the second report of Noah's full obedience, after 6:22, and it follows the warning of seven days. John Wesley read that week as a last call to the world outside the ark. The name here is the LORD, where 6:22 had God.
