Noah's age is given as 600 years, and the year fixes the flood inside the genealogy of Genesis 5. The seven days pass, the animals come to Noah two by two, and the floodwaters come upon the earth. Peter calls Noah a preacher of righteousness at 2 Peter 2:5.

The LORD gave seven days of warning at verse 4, and the floodwaters came when they ended. Gill counted the waters as rising for 150 days. Bede read the seventh day as a sign of the Sabbath rest.
