Chapter summary

The boundaries of Canaan and the men who will divide it. The south border from the wilderness of Zin along Edom; the western border the great sea; the northern border from Mount Hor to the entering of Hamath, Zedad, Ziphron, Hazar-enan; the east border from Hazar-enan to Shepham, Riblah, the Sea of Chinnereth, the Jordan, and the Salt Sea. Eleazar and Joshua and a prince of every tribe will divide it. The chapter is a geography map drawn before the people cross — the land bounded and bordered before a single spear has been thrown.
