on Proverbs 13:4-6

“The slacker craves yet has nothing” states his whole problem in one line, wanting without working, while “the soul of the diligent is fully satisfied”. The cluster closes on the guard image the book uses often: “Righteousness guards the man of integrity, but wickedness undermines the sinner”.

Righteousness guards the man of integrity

Righteousness stands guard like a sentry over the man of integrity. Wickedness works from within and undermines the sinner who houses it. The verse completes verse 5, where the righteous hate falsehood as contrary to truth and conscience.
