Verse 6 dates this offering to Mount Sinai, where Exodus 29:38-42 had commanded it. Tamid, the word rendered regular, governs the chapter, as every feast is laid on it.

John Calvin reads the mention of Sinai as a recommendation, since the rite had been offered from that time. He renders the pleasing aroma as a savour of rest. Matthew Henry reports Bishop Patrick's view that the daily lamb was kept up morning and evening even in the wilderness years.
