The three sons of Benjamin
on 1 Chronicles 7:6-12
Benjamin's three clans, Bela, Becher, and Jediael, muster nearly sixty thousand mighty men. Barnes reads the list as later descendants reckoned to their founders at the time of David's census. The Shuppites and Huppites stand outside the three clans, and the older commentators disagree over which son they belong to.

Gill reports Kimchi's view that Anathoth and Alemeth gave their names to two towns of Benjamin. Both towns appear among the priests' cities in 1 Chronicles 6:60, and Anathoth was Jeremiah's home. Becher's house mustered 20,200.

Benjamin shall ravin as a wolf, Gen. xlix. It was the honour of this tribe that it produced Saul the first king, and more its honour that it adhered to the rightful kings of the house of David when the other tribes revolted.
