And Shua their sister - It is very rarely that women are found in the Jewish genealogies, and they are never inserted but for especial reasons.

The children of Asher

on 1 Chronicles 7:30-40

Asher's record runs three generations after Beriah and closes with 26,000 men fit for battle. Verse 40 calls them choice and mighty men of valor, and chiefs among the leaders. Gill points out that Dan and Zebulun get no entry anywhere in this chapter.

This site's exposition

Heber was the father of Japhlet

Clarke notes that women seldom appear in these genealogies and are named only for a reason, as Shua is here and Serah in verse 30. Verse 34 spells Shomer as Shemer. Helem in verse 35 may be Hotham.

Commentary on the Whole Bible (1710)

Here is no account either of Zebulun or Dan. Why they only should be omitted we can assign no reason; only it is the disgrace of the tribe of Dan that idolatry began in that colony of the Danites which fixed in Laish, and called Dan, and there one of the golden calves was set up by Jeroboam.
And Heber,.... The other grandson of Asher; and son of Beriah: begat Japhlet, and Shomer, and Hotham, and Shuah their sister; a place on the borders of Ephraim is called the coast of Japhleti; but whether from this Japhlet is uncertain.
