5 notes on this verseRomamti-ezer - Both these names belong to the same person. He is mentioned also 1Ch 25:4. With this immense parade of noise and show, (David’s own invention), Christianity has nothing to do.

Every name in the roll stood in the family lists of verses 2 to 4, and the roster fixes the order the lot gave them. Gill and Keil flag two names as variant spellings, Shubael of verse 20 for Shebuel of verse 4 and Azarel of verse 18 for Uzziel.

Romamti-ezer, a son of Heman named in verse 4, drew the twenty-fourth and last lot. Adam Clarke notes that both parts of the name belong to one man. The twenty-four companies of 12 make the 288 singers of verse 7.
