Every name in the roll stood in the family lists of verses 2 to 4, and the roster fixes the order the lot gave them. Gill and Keil flag two names as variant spellings, Shubael of verse 20 for Shebuel of verse 4 and Azarel of verse 18 for Uzziel.

Giddalti drew the twenty-second lot. He is the ninth son of Heman in verse 4, one of the fourteen sons verse 5 counts as God's gift to exalt Heman. His company numbered 12.
