Every name in the roll stood in the family lists of verses 2 to 4, and the roster fixes the order the lot gave them. Gill and Keil flag two names as variant spellings, Shubael of verse 20 for Shebuel of verse 4 and Azarel of verse 18 for Uzziel.

Jesarelah drew the seventh lot, the last of the four that fell to Asaph's sons. The name matches Asarelah, a son of Asaph in verse 2. After this lot every lot fell to the houses of Jeduthun and Heman.
