literally, Cease, my son, to hear instruction, that thou mayest err from the words of knowledge; advice given ironically to do that to which his weakness leads him, with a clear knowledge of the evil to which he is drifting.

on Proverbs 19:26-29
He who assaults his father or evicts his mother is named "a son who brings shame and disgrace." A corrupt witness mocks justice and a wicked mouth swallows iniquity. The chapter closes where the book often does, with judgments prepared for mockers and "beatings for the backs of fools."

Albert Barnes reads the verse as irony, advice to do what weakness already urges, given with full knowledge of where it leads. Cease to hear instruction and the straying follows. The son is warned by being told to fail.
