Verse 6 dates this offering to Mount Sinai, where Exodus 29:38-42 had commanded it. Tamid, the word rendered regular, governs the chapter, as every feast is laid on it.

The grain offering went with the burnt offering. John Gill explains that flour and oil mixed made the minchah, a bread offering, with oil standing in for butter in that country. Albert Barnes reads the grain as the people giving God the fruit of their labour along with the animal.
