The force of the words is, “When the slain shall fall in the midst of you, then at last ye shall know that I am the Lord.” So in Eze 6:10 where the knowledge implies a recognition of the merciful intent of Yahweh’s dispensations, and therefore, a hope of restoration.

The Lord will “lay the corpses of the Israelites before their idols,” as Leviticus 26:30 warned. Clarke notes that the cities and high places fall together: “the cities will be laid waste.” The unit ends with the chapter’s first “you will know that I am the LORD.”

The dead will fall among the living. Albert Barnes reads the verse as a sequence: when the slain fall, then at last the people will know that He is the LORD. The same phrase returns through the chapter.
