From the Korahites: Meshelemiah son of Kore
on 1 Chronicles 26:1-3
The gatekeepers open with the Korahites, the family of Korah, whose rebellion against Moses is told in Numbers 16. Numbers 26:11 records that the line of Korah did not die out. Meshelemiah heads a house of seven named sons, each counted as the holder of an accountable office.

Elam the fifth
Elam, Jehohanan and Eliehoenai complete the seven sons of Meshelemiah. Verse 9 counts his house at 18 capable men with their brothers. John Gill notes that the gatekeepers came only from the Levites of Korah and Merari, and this house is the first of them.
