on 1 Chronicles 10:8-10

1 Samuel 31:10 reads that they put his armor in the temple of the Ashtoreths and hung his body on the wall of Beth-shan. Chronicles says they hung his head in the temple of Dagon. The two accounts are read as displays at separate Philistine shrines.

They stripped Saul, cut off

The Philistines treat Saul as David once treated Goliath, whose head David cut off and carried away (1 Samuel 17:51 and 54). The news is proclaimed in their idols' temples as well as among their people. They credit the victory to their gods.
