Jehovah's questioning continues, and the whole curriculum is wild animals. Creatures no man manages, all of them fed and free. Knowest thou when the wild goats of the rock bring forth? Who sent out the wild ass free, who scorneth the shouting of the driver? Will the wild-ox consent to sleep by thy crib? The ostrich leaves her eggs in the earth, deprived of wisdom by God himself, yet she scorneth the horse and his rider. Then the war-horse, clothed with a quivering mane, mocking at fear and swallowing the ground: 'he saith among the trumpets, Aha! and he smelleth the battle afar off' (39:25). The hawk soars and the eagle mounts up. By whose wisdom?
