He struck down the firstborn of Egypt
on Psalms 136:10-15
The acts begin in Egypt, with the firstborn struck down and Israel brought out under a mighty hand and outstretched arm. Deuteronomy 4:34 names the same strong hand and an outstretched arm at work in Egypt. One sea carried Israel through and drowned Pharaoh's army.

Led through renders avar, the verb for crossing over water. In Exodus 14:22 Israel went through the middle of the sea on dry ground, with the waters as a wall on each side. Joshua 4:23 sets the Jordan crossing beside this one.

The people marched dry shod through the heart of the sea. Hallelujah! For his mercy endureth for ever. Mercy cleared the road, mercy cheered the host, mercy led them down, and mercy brought them up again. Even to the depth of the sea mercy reaches, —there is no end to it, no obstacle in the way of it, no danger to believers in it, while Jehovah is all around.
