Kings also, in token of favor, gave caftans or robes to those whom they wish to honor. And he did continually eat bread before him - Was a constant guest at the king’s table.

Verses 31 to 34 match 2 Kings 25:27-30 almost word for word: in “the thirty-seventh year of the exile,” Evil-merodach releases Jehoiachin. A king of David’s line now eats at the king’s table, before any decree of Cyrus. The book closes with the exile still running.
