Their sin was that they would not see, but shut their eyes against the light, loving darkness rather; their punishment was that they should not see, but be given up to their own hearts' lusts, which were hardening, and the god of this world should be permitted to blind their minds, 2 Cor. iv. This was foretold concerning them ( Isa. vi. 10 ), and Christ ratified it, Matt. xiii.
