The names of the children born to him in Jerusalem repeat the list at 1 Chronicles 3:5 to 8. Clarke counts eleven names in the Hebrew of Samuel, thirteen here, and twenty-four in the Septuagint. The doubling fits the book's practice of keeping every line of David's house on record.

Nathan and Solomon were both sons born to David in Jerusalem by Bathsheba (1 Chronicles 3:5). Luke 3:31 traces the line of Jesus through Nathan, and Matthew 1:6 through Solomon. Clarke counts eleven names in 2 Samuel and thirteen here.
