on 2 Chronicles 2:7-10

Solomon asks for one craftsman skilled “to work with gold and silver, with bronze and iron, and with purple, crimson, and blue yarn”. Cedar, cypress and algum are paid in wheat, barley, wine and oil, a fuller wage list than the wheat and oil of 1 Kings 5:11.

Barnes judges that the temple may have been larger than any single building in Palestine up to its time. Such a house needed rare and lasting timber in quantity, the cedar and cypress of verse 8. The two crews cut it together.
