Where 2 Samuel records the dedication of the gold and silver, Chronicles adds a detail that looks ahead to the temple. The bronze from “Tibhath and Cun, cities of Hadadezer” is the metal “with which Solomon made the bronze Sea, the pillars, and various bronze articles”.

Tou is king of Hamath, the city named in verse 3 as the edge of David's war with Zobah. He hears that David has beaten the whole army of Hadadezer. Jamieson, Fausset and Brown take Hadadezer as the standing title of Zobah's kings.
