Job's reply continues, now addressed straight to God. 'My soul is weary of my life; I will give free course to my complaint.' Do not condemn me; show me wherefore thou contendest with me. Is it good unto thee that thou shouldest oppress the work of thy hands? Then a tender argument from creation: 'thy hands have framed me and fashioned me': poured me out as milk, curdled me like cheese, clothed me with skin and flesh, knit me with bones and sinews. Life and lovingkindness thou hast granted, yet this was hid in thy heart. He asks a little comfort before he goes to 'the land of darkness and of the shadow of death.'
