Chapter summary
Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free. If ye be circumcised, Christ profiteth nothing; ye are fallen from grace. By love serve one another; all the law is fulfilled in one word — thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. The works of the flesh and the fruit of the Spirit named and contrasted — love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance. Wesley reads this as the Christian ethic's root and flower.
Drafted from Matthew Henry, Calvin, Gill, Clarke, JFB, and Barnes.
