David's concern is about his soul; if we understand it of his natural life, it teaches us that the best self-preservation is to commit ourselves to God's keeping and by faith and prayer to make our Creator our preserver.

He pleads his distress: " Hear me, for I am poor and needy, therefore I want thy help, therefore none else will hear me."
