Solomon assembled in Jerusalem the elders of Israel

on 2 Chronicles 5:2-3

Solomon summons the elders, tribal heads and family chiefs for the feast of the seventh month, Tabernacles, the same assembly 1 Kings 8:1-2 records. The whole leadership of the nation is gathered before a single vessel is moved. The nation, not the king alone, brings the ark up.

The whole nation came up behind the elders of verse 2. The feast of the seventh month was the Feast of Tabernacles, one of the three great yearly festivals Barnes lists at 2:4. Henry records that the ark and its vessels were brought up with great joy.
