Job answers Jehovah and the case closes: 'I know that thou canst do all things, and that no purpose of thine can be restrained… things too wonderful for me, which I knew not' (42:2-3). The turn is not information but sight: 'I had heard of thee by the hearing of the ear; but now mine eye seeth thee: wherefore I abhor myself, and repent in dust and ashes' (42:5-6). Then the unexpected verdict, to Eliphaz: 'ye have not spoken of me the thing that is right, as my servant Job hath.' Job prays for his accusers, and Jehovah turns his captivity: flocks doubled, seven sons, three daughters named Jemimah, Keziah, and Keren-happuch. James points here for 'the patience of Job' (James 5:11).
