Zephaniah

The great Day of the LORD sweeps the whole earth, narrows onto Judah, widens across the nations, narrows again onto Jerusalem alone — and then, at its tightest point, narrows past the nation to one singing God, rejoicing over His remnant, before the book flares back out to all the peoples of the earth.

Zephaniah 3:17 — the one verse in Scripture where God sings — set beside the bridegroom's rejoicing of Isaiah 62:5, the covenant joy of Jeremiah 32:41, Luke 15's three joys, and the joy set before Him in Hebrews 12:2.

Yom YHWH traced as the spine of the Twelve — Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Zephaniah's term-by-term cascade, Zechariah, Malachi — into the NT's Pentecost citation, the thief in the night, and the day the elements dissolve. Near and far held on one telescoping line.

She'erith across the canon: Elijah's seven thousand who have not bowed, Isaiah's Shear-jashub sign, Micah and Zephaniah's humble refuge-takers, Ezra's escaped remnant — to Romans' remnant according to the election of grace.
