The closing formula points past Chronicles to a fuller source, “the Book of the Kings of Israel and Judah”. Verse 8 repeats the accession notice of verse 1. Jotham is buried in the City of David, and the chapter closes with “his son Ahaz reigned in his place”.

Jotham rested with his fathers
Jotham is buried in the City of David with no word of shame. His father Uzziah lay apart because of his leprosy at 26:23, and his son Ahaz is kept out of the royal tombs at 28:27. Of the three, only Jotham rests among the kings.

These verses are much the same with 2Ki 16:2, only in 2Ch 28:2 it is said: he made also molten images for Baalim; the several Baals or idols of the nations round about, as well as served Jeroboam's calves; see Jdg 2:11, and he is said in 2Ch 28:3, to burn incense in the valley of the son of Hinnom; to Molech, the god of the Ammonites, who was worshipped there.
