The first penitential psalm. 'Jehovah, rebuke me not in thine anger', bones troubled, soul sore vexed, the bed swimming with tears each night. 'In Sheol who shall give thee thanks?' The turn is sudden and total: 'Jehovah hath heard the voice of my weeping… Jehovah will receive my prayer.' All the workers of iniquity are told to depart, words Jesus takes up in Matthew 7:23.
