The first night-seeking: 'By night on my bed I sought him whom my soul loveth: I sought him, but I found him not.' She rises, circles the city, asks the watchmen. And when she finds him, 'I held him, and would not let him go.' The refrain again: awake not love until it please. Then the wedding procession: 'Who is this that cometh up from the wilderness like pillars of smoke?': Solomon's litter, threescore mighty men about it, the day of the gladness of his heart.
