The first extended warning against adultery. The strange woman's lips drop honey, 'but her latter end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword; her feet go down to death.' Remove thy way far from her, lest thou give thy years unto the cruel and mourn at the last when flesh and body are consumed. The remedy is covenant delight: 'Drink waters out of thine own cistern… rejoice in the wife of thy youth.' For the ways of man are before the eyes of Jehovah.
