Chapter summary

The bronze altar and the court. An altar of shittim wood overlaid with brass, hollow with boards, four horns at the corners, pans and shovels and basins and fleshhooks and firepans all of brass. Staves for bearing. The court — a hundred cubits long, fifty wide — hung with fine twined linen on silver-filleted brass-socketed pillars. The gate of the court twenty cubits long with an hanging of blue, purple, and scarlet. Pure oil olive beaten for the light; Aaron and his sons to order it from evening to morning — ‘a statute for ever unto their generations on the behalf of the children of Israel’.
