Chapter summary

Paul and Timothy greet the saints at Colosse, giving thanks for their faith and love, and praying that they may be filled with the knowledge of his will. God hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son. Christ is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature; by him were all things created; and he is before all things, and by him all things consist. He is the head of the body, the church; in him all fulness should dwell. Calvin reads the hymn as the Christ-supremacy charter.

Drafted from Matthew Henry, Calvin, Gill, Clarke, JFB, and Barnes.
