About this plan

You keep four bookmarks instead of one. Every day you read a little from each place, so a single sitting holds a story from the Law, a word from the Prophets, a page of the Gospels, and a piece of a letter.

Reading this way, the parts start explaining each other. The sacrifice you read about on Tuesday morning is the one Hebrews is arguing about on Tuesday afternoon.

The shape comes from Robert Murray M'Cheyne, a Scottish pastor who gave his congregation a four-column calendar in 1842. His version reads the New Testament and the Psalms twice in a year; this one reads the whole Bible through once, so the two shorter streams take a day off here and there rather than doubling up.
